Celebrating 5 years at Key Appointments

Posted in Company News on Jun 08, 2023 by Keeley Edge

Our lovely colleague Emma has been working with us here at Key Appointments for 5 years, so we wanted to take a moment to celebrate this milestone.  We took some time out of work for a celebratory lunch and asked Emma some questions about her time with Key Appointments.

How long have you been working in recruitment?

I’ve literally been working in recruitment for 5 years; this was my first role. Prior to that I had worked in sales, and then had taken some time out to have my boys (twins). I was looking for something part time to fit around childcare and this job came up.

What do you enjoy most about working with Key Appointments?

Lots of things! We have a lovely friendly team. I am able to work around my kids which is amazing. And I love the culture that Keeley has built at Key Appointments. I thought that recruitment had a bit of a bad reputation for being a rat race that was very money orientated but Key Appointments is nothing like that. We focus on building long-term relationships with our clients and our candidates, and that means that they come back to us again and again which gives me a lot of job satisfaction.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

I took over running the Key Start service in 2021, which is basically a fixed-fee recruitment service where the client can choose a package based on their requirements and budget. Key Start has been available since 2014 and in Q1 2023 we had our best quarter ever!

What tips would you have for companies trying to recruit in this market?

Think about the benefits that you are offering to employees. If this isn’t something that you have changed recently you should definitely revisit your benefits package. There are loads of benefits that you can offer employees that don’t have to cost a fortune, but can really help you to stand out in this crowded market. Things like holiday buy-back schemes, wellbeing initiatives and flexible working are just a few to think about.

What tips do you have for candidates?

Your CV is your first window of opportunity to make a good impression so make sure it’s of a high quality. Sense check it for grammar and spelling mistakes and ask someone else to proof read it for you. Also consider tailoring it where possible when applying for roles, so that it includes the relevant terminology that is being used in the job ad.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m looking forward to playing an active role in leading the Key Start division, so that we can help more companies to keep their recruitment affordable during this time of uncertainty.
