Are you worried about your Online Reputation?

Posted in Candidates on Feb 23, 2010 by Richard Hayden

According to a recent survey by CareerBuilder.co.uk, most employers are now using social networking sites to screen candidates.  53% of the businesses surveyed, reported that they research job candidates prior to making offers of employment.  Approximately 43% of businesses using these sites said that what they had seen had caused them not to hire the candidate.  A further 12% of those surveyed plan to start using social networking sites in the coming year as a way of screening future employees.

With ongoing reports of people having their employment terminated because of things they have posted on their ‘Profiles’ of social networking sites, it is becoming more important to know how to use these sites properly.  Whether you are employed or looking for work, make sure that you are constantly reviewing what you are posting onto these sites and who has access to it.
