It's coming around to that time of year again, whether you would like to admit it or not, Christmas is rapidly approaching. With many businesses feeling the pinch, can we really justify a Christmas party this year?
The Christmas party marks not only the start of the festive season but heralds the coming of a New Year. In such a time of uncertainty it has never been more important to build a strong team and maintain morale.
Whilst the Christmas party may seem arbitrary, even somewhat contrived; at its heart beyond the cheesy music and bad cracker jokes is the opportunity to share the success and achievements of your team and most importantly to say thank you for the hard work.
As well as showing your appreciation, a Christmas celebration is the perfect opportunity to create excitement about the company’s plans and goals for the New Year. Creating a shared vision and involving all of your staff members in the future of the company can only help to create a positive environment, ensuring staff engagement in the post Christmas dip.
To keep costs down and create the festive atmosphere you could try setting a reasonable £2.50 budget for a secret Santa gift exchange to take place as part of the celebrations. Follow this with a brief presentation in the office summarising the achievements of the year, outlining the goals for the future and then finished off with a round of drinks at a local bar. It needn’t cost the earth but it is definitely important and beneficial to celebrate the year’s successes and show staff that they feature in the future of the company.
