Leeds’ largest business networking group had a very special visitor last week, when the Lord Mayor attended the early morning breakfast meeting.

Key Appointments Keeley Edge meets with other Network Central group members of  BNI (Business Network International) at 6.30am every Friday at Weetwood Hall and regularly welcomes visitors to network with often 50 or more people in attendance.

Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Tom Murray, was happy to chat with members and reminded the group of the assistance available from the council for Leeds businesses.

Cllr. Murray commented: “It’s not often that I’m asked to attend an event so early in the morning, but it was worth it to see the Leeds business community thriving.

“This was an excellent example of effective networking which appears to work, generating more business. There was a fantastic atmosphere and it was inspiring to see so much business being done even before office hours began.”

Group chairman, Mark Chatwood, owner of web video company Stripey Films, added: “We regularly have visitors from all types of background, but this is the first time we’ve welcomed a Lord Mayor and we’re very grateful that Cllr. Murray could spare the time to come along and offer the group some fantastic advice.”

During 2013 members of Network Central passed more than 3,000 referrals within the group, equating to £2.7million worth of business. The motto of BNI is ‘givers gain’ and members help others to find high quality business leads. The value of business these leads turn into is then measured.
