This key role involves overseeing the smooth running of the Meals on Wheels service and leading a dedicated volunteer team that supports elderly clients across Harrogate and Ripon.

This is a hands-on, admin-heavy role that requires excellent Excel skills, strong communication, and a genuine passion for working with older people and their families. If you're a natural organiser who thrives on building relationships and keeping operations running smoothly, this could be a perfect fit.

As a Volunteer Coordinator, your key duties will include:

  • Managing referrals and enquiries, maintaining accurate records and producing reports using Excel
  • Organising daily and weekly meal orders, updating volunteer rotas, and coordinating delivery rounds
  • Supporting the kitchen team with packing meals and covering delivery routes in emergencies
  • Welcoming volunteers each day, assisting with DBS checks, expenses, and ensuring they feel supported in their roles
  • Acting as a point of contact for families and raising any wellbeing concerns reported by volunteers
  • Promoting the service to attract new clients and volunteers through posters, social media, and local networking
  • Assisting with hospitality and catering development alongside the wider senior team

About you...

Essential:
  • Strong administrative experience with confidence using Excel and digital systems
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A confident communicator with empathy and warmth when dealing with elderly clients and their families
  • Ability to build supportive relationships with volunteers
  • Full UK driving licence and local travel flexibility

Desirable:
  • Previous experience coordinating volunteers or working in a similar community-focused role
  • Some knowledge of kitchen or catering environments would be an advantage

What's in it for you...
  • A meaningful and rewarding role supporting older people in your local community
  • Competitive salary of £28,000 (£13.46/hour)
  • Monday to Friday hours (8am to 4pm) with no evenings or weekends, though Bank Holiday cover is required
  • Free onsite parking and free lunch during working hours
  • Access to a healthcare plan and Blue Light Card discounts
  • Long service recognition and referral bonuses
  • A friendly, committed team and a supportive working culture

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

If you're ready to take on a rewarding leadership role as a Volunteer Coordination Manager - Meals on Wheels, and you enjoy bringing people together to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
