We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is currently enrolled in their penultimate year of study, for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) subject. This is an internship for a group of companies in the Chemicals industry, within their Mergers & Acquisitions team.
 
Founded in 2004, this wholly owned private company have rapidly grown its family of companies both through organic growth and acquisitions and their strategic focus is to continue the expansion of its domestic and international footprint.
 
Their portfolio in the chemicals sector provides the building blocks (ingredients, additives and formulations) for everyday life. This includes such industries as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, personal care, water treatment and home care. They are headquartered in Runcorn, UK and have an international presence in: Benelux, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Nordics and Poland.
 
As part of their strategy, they require a talented Intern to join the existing in-house Mergers & Acquisitions team and contribute to the function which originates and executes their pipeline.
 
Reporting to the Group Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions Executive, as an Intern, you will be asked to assist and progress the M&A projects across the Group. As part of a small and agile team, you will have the opportunity to make an impact in the Strategy and M&A function.
 
You will be based within easy access to the North West of England to be able to work at their Headquarters in Runcorn. You should be a top performer in your studies and be a self-starter with the ability to work independently at pace.
 
Terms:
  • Job type: Full-time Internship
  • Salary: Competitive internship compensation
  • Work environment: Mixture of home and office-based
  • Location: Some time in Runcorn will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ongoing development of internal metrics and pipeline research
  • Construction of financial analyses and models for recommendations and strategic decisions
  • Design ad-hoc presentations and other value-added material for the Group
  • Communicate and work closely with stakeholders and third-party advisors
Skills:
 
Essential
  • Exceptional numerical and qualitative problem-solving acumen
  • Strong communication & presentation skills
  • Outstanding Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
  • Commercial common sense
Desirable
  • Financial modelling
  • VBA, SQL and/or Python
  • Business, Finance or Accounting courses or education
