What is Fixed Fee Recruitment?

Posted in Employers on Aug 21, 2012 by Richard Hayden

Fixed Fee Recruitment, also known as Flat Fee Recruitment is not a new idea however in recent years it has increased in popularity as a result of the ever increasing number of Online Recruitment sites (Job Boards) on the market and also the need for reducing budgets and costs per hire.

What is it?

Fixed Fee Recruitment bridges the gap between direct online recruitment and a recruitment agency.  Primarily an organisation will be charged a fixed fee rather than a percentage for a recruitment service incorporating Online Advertising on multiple-sites.  This is usually charged up-front and should include writing of the advertisement.

What’s included?

The level of service varies and in addition to job board advertising, it may also include CV database searches and response management including short-listing, telephone screening.  Fixed Fee Recruiters may operate purely offering this type of recruitment service or traditional Recruitment Agencies may offer it as an alternative to their recruitment managed service.

How much does it cost?

Through our research, costs can range from £200 - £1000 dependent on the level of service.  Some offer a Fixed Service irrespective of your requirements whilst others offer 3 levels of service (Gold, Silver, Bronze), allowing you to choose what you need.

ADVANTAGES

  • Allows you to target a large audience across a wide number of online recruitment sites

  • No hidden costs – you know how much you are paying

  • Can reduce cost per hire for high volumes of recruitment

DISADVANTAGES

  • Time consuming - receiving applications, organising interviews, handling rejections etc

  • No rebate or replacement guarantees

  • Upfront costs – irrespective of the outcome

Before you Recruit?

  • Put a value on your time before deciding which service to use

  • Prepare a Role Descripion and Person Specification to gain an understanding of exactly what you need

  • Think ahead – who will handle the response, organise interviews etc

  • Seek advice from a trusted contact i.e. Accountant, HR Consultant before recruiting

No matter what type of recruitment method you use, the best way to decide on a supplier of any kind is to be referred by someone who has used that service before.
